This breath-taking series of photographs chart photographer Hamid Sardar-Afkhami’s recent visit to Mongolia to highlight and document the daily lives of the tribesmen of the Steppes. Living in a desolate area around the border between Mongolia and Russia the Tuvan-Turkic tribe’s lifestyle hasn’t changed for centuries. Sadly time seems to be running out on this reindeer herding tribe as the animal population diminishes – at present there are only a few hundred people within 44 families left.
Hamid decided to capture this way of life on film before it was too late. The results are simple astonishing as this series of shots show.
