Encyclopedias Are Useless Nowadays. But What This Artist Does With Them Is Brilliant

We don’t usually associate a pile of old books with great art or mind-blowing sculpture, but Quebec artist Guy Laramée carves intricate and fascinating miniature landscapes into the pages of old encyclopedias and hard-back books to produce something totally brilliant.

Creating these ‘inner-worlds’ from paper is obviously painstaking and highly-skilled – in fact Guy has been doing this for 30 years. When he isn’t putting a Dremel to old books, the artist also writes, composes music, paints and is a film director.
